New Years from the Philippines

Well, I was told that New Years was a bigger celebration than Christmas. I was somewhat surprised by what it meant. There were Fireworks, and Lots of them. Everyone in Dulag was doing whatever they could to make noise (revving their engines, fireworks, noise makers, there was even a guy who had a piece of metal roofing tied to the back of his motorcycle). Yah… Sleeping at 12 was nearly impossible. Although it is now 2016, I am saddened by the thought that I will be leaving next year, but I know that I must make what I can out of these two years. No regrets!

This week has been good though. The members here are awesome! We had 4 investigators at church (which included a Part member family and a investigator we had met the night before). The Lord is truly hastening his work, not only here but in the world at large. Although the world may be in chaos, the Lords work will always be the peace to the storm. The storm is different for each of us, but the solution is the same, Jesus Christ. He is the solution to our pains, hurt, temptation, and sin.

I am so grateful to have spent Christmas and New Years in the service of my lord, Jesus Christ. Serving him has brought the blessing of happiness and joy, as we see those that we meet come unto Christ. This joy is the sweetest of feelings of happiness, one that I am grateful to experience.

I hope that everyone had a marvelous new years, and I hope that this year is as prosperous and joyous as you make it out for you.

Just remember, “Exaltation is our goal; discipleship is our journey.” —President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
